Whatever you're struggling with, you don't have to do it alone.

Therapy is a team effort.  It's an opportunity to hear your own voice and discover your own wisdom.  Together, we can take that wisdom and use it to solve problems, heal emotional pain and make sense out of chaotic circumstances.  New insights that you gain in therapy can provide immediate relief, and can help prepare you for tomorrow's challenges.

about therapy

Therapy should be results-oriented.  I offer clinical interventions based on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), emotionally focused therapy, and humanist and relational techniques.  I offer emotional support and compassion with coaching and teaching that provides applicable, personalized skills.

Choosing the right therapist can be difficult.  It's an important decision that is often made during periods of instability in our lives.  I tailor my therapeutic approach to you, the individual, knowing that your needs are unique.  To help with your decision to see a therapist, I offer a free consultation to discuss your needs and answer your questions.

about me

I've had the privilege of spending the past twenty years working with clients facing a wide range of challenges.  I've worked extensively with people dealing with chronic disease, grief and loss, identity issues, gender and sexuality issues, life transitions, issues of young adulthood, relationship problems and the unique psychological problems facing men.

I'm a relatively new arrival in California, having left my position at Harvard University in Massachusetts for a new adventure "out west."  I'm delighted by the prospect of year-round gardening here in the San Fernando Valley, and I still pinch myself when I'm hiking in Topanga or riding the ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier.  Living here has brought new appreciation for so many things in my life.  I look forward to meeting you, my fellow Angelenos, and offering my services to our community.
